Full-Time TERRITORY SALES MANAGER (NORTH RIFT & KISUMU)

JOB SUMMARY
The Territorial Sales Manager will oversee the sales operations in the Rift Valley and Kisumu regions. This role is designed for a highly motivated and experienced sales leader who will be responsible for driving revenue growth, leading a high-performing sales team, and enhancing market penetration for the company’s products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in FMCG sales, deep regional knowledge, and an ability to lead and inspire others to achieve set sales targets.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, motivate, and manage a team of sales representatives within the Rift Valley and Kisumu territories.
- Set clear performance objectives for the sales team and regularly monitor their performance to ensure targets are met.
- Provide ongoing coaching and development to team members to enhance their sales skills and product knowledge.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team, ensuring each team member is aligned with Melvin’s Tea’s strategic goals.
Strategic Sales Planning & Execution
- Develop and execute a detailed sales strategy for the region that aligns with overall company goals and objectives.
- Identify key growth opportunities in the region, including new business, distribution channels, and customer segments.
- Implement sales initiatives that improve brand visibility, increase sales volume, and expand market share in the region.
- Regularly review and adjust sales strategies to meet changing market conditions and competitor activity.
Customer Relationship & Market Development
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with key distributors, wholesalers, retailers, and other stakeholders in the value chain.
- Develop strong partnerships with key accounts to ensure the consistent availability and visibility of the company’s products in the market.
- Identify new potential customers and expand the company’s footprint within existing and untapped markets.
- Regularly visit customers to ensure satisfaction, resolve issues, and identify new sales opportunities.
Sales Target Achievement & Reporting
- Take full responsibility for achieving sales targets and revenue goals for the region, ensuring these are in line with company objectives.
- Provide accurate and timely sales forecasts and reports to the Regional Sales Manager.
- Analyze sales data, trends, and market conditions to make informed decisions and recommendations for achieving better results.
- Ensure effective execution of promotional campaigns, sales activations, and new product launches to meet sales goals.
Market Intelligence & Competitor Analysis
- Continuously monitor and analyze competitors’ activities, products, and pricing strategies to maintain a competitive edge in the market.
- Stay up-to-date with regional market trends, customer behavior, and consumer preferences to adapt sales strategies accordingly.
- Report any potential market threats, opportunities, or new trends that could affect business performance.
Budget Management & Cost Control
- Develop and manage a sales budget for the region, ensuring all activities are aligned with the approved financial plan.
- Monitor and control costs related to sales operations, ensuring efficient resource allocation without compromising sales growth or customer satisfaction.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of all financial transactions related to sales activities.
Training & Development
- Organize regular sales training sessions for the team to enhance product knowledge, selling techniques, and market understanding.
- Support and mentor team members to achieve professional growth and increase their contribution to the company’s success.
- Provide leadership in the development of effective sales presentations, customer engagement strategies, and negotiation tactics.
Brand Visibility & Product Distribution
- Ensure the company’s brand maintains a strong presence across all points of sale and distribution channels.
- Work closely with marketing and merchandising teams to ensure consistent product visibility, branding, and in-store execution.
- Coordinate with the logistics and supply chain teams to ensure on-time delivery and product availability
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- A Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in FMCG sales, preferably with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role within the Rift Valley and Kisumu regions.
- A proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and managing a team to achieve set objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage a diverse sales team.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities with an emphasis on achieving results.
- Experience in talent development, including training, coaching, and mentoring sales professionals.
- In-depth knowledge of the Rift Valley and Kisumu markets, including key customer segments, competitors, and distribution channels.
